Zoe Strauss Meets Strangers...The New Yorker Photo... →
Wow!! Zoe Strauss!! The above piece from The New Yorker is very much worth having a look at. She has a page on flickr too! … … She also has a very interesting blog. … Everyone probably already knows about her, but I’ve just discovered her shots, thanks to a friend, so I’m pretty excited :)

My nephew's photos...
A few months ago my nieces and nephew came up from Florida to visit us here in Baltimore. My nephew Connor, age 14, took a surprising interest in film photography, particularly medium format TLRs. I lent him my Ricohflex and he took several good shots and figured out exposure, focus and all of that amazingly quickly. So I had an old TLR sitting around (a USC Auto Forty) and an extra selenium meter...

Snow days...
I got the fun surprise to learn, very early this morning, that I had a snow day today. With a whole day to take it easy, I got inspired to go out before the sunrise and take some black and white medium format shots of the snow, before it got stepped on too much. I have no idea what to expect, since they were shot on some 20 year old expired East German (ORWO) film, but I’m looking forward to...

projectmelbourne asked: Hey there Patrick,

Love your work.
Came across them as now I am starting film.
Got a MF Bronica SQ-A. Considered the Mat 124 too, but Bronica going at good price.

Wanna ask ya, what runs through your mind when metering for film shots...especially those in tricky light conditions such as the night shots?

Thanks man....keep up ur work...

buying cameras on eBay...
I recently had the experience of buying from a dishonest seller on eBay. I bought a Leica M4 so I could more easily use a 35mm lens on an M mount camera (the M3 doesn’t have frame lines for anything less than 50mm). It was a pretty good deal (perhaps too good… it was about 10 to 15% cheaper than other M4s I had seen in the same condition), but I looked at the seller’s feedback...

The Slow-Photography Movement →
My wife sent me this article… I’ve read a lot about the return to analog cameras and the popularity of “lomography,” but I like how the author here describes the importance of process when taking pictures and how that enhances the whole experience. Of course the end product is definitely important to me, but one of the things I really love about taking pictures is just...
